Celebrities and companies have been trying to protect their names and trademark names on the internet since the 1990’s and continually have to watch out for usurpers. Recently, Facebook, the social network released customized web addresses and some celebrities and companies like Dell, rushed to secure their names. Social media like MySpace and Facebook are the newest forms of social marketing and they help companies promote their brands. This form of marketing can be good for small and big businesses alike, but as just as domain name encroachment has been abused and sold for profit, trademark logo owners will need to find the time to police these sites and enforce their rights.
