A factory in Georgia is believed to have shipped the tainted peanut butter that ended up in products ranging from cookies to dog treats. Several humans were infected and there were six deaths, but so far no dogs have been reported ill. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Animals may not show these symptoms but can be carriers and infect other animals and even humans.
